Our History

Early Mission
Partnering with community leaders in the rural and informal settlements on the East Rand, Ronald and Yvonne Dell established feeding schemes, distributed clothing donations and initiated building projects, while providing spiritual upliftment and restoration to families in need.
1984

Christian Praise Centre opens
The Dells started a faith-based organisation – Christian Praise Centre – and opened the doors of their home on a 10 acre piece of land to care for, accommodate and feed the less fortunate and most needy.
1989

Child Care Ministry
A safe haven for abused and neglected mothers with children was established. Later, a crèche and day care was opened to accommodate the children while their unemployed mothers received counselling and training.
1995

Siyabonga Africa registered as NPO
Siyabonga Africa was established to address the skills shortage and job scarcity problem throughout South Africa, and took in the role of Service Provider, being the link between the Sponsor (Corporate South Africa and Government) and the Beneficiary (Fellow NPOs and/or Entrepreneurs).
2004

Entrepreneurial Programmes
Programmes were initiated to create jobs through small business development, e.g. bakeries, egg farms and food gardening.
2007

Food Bank
One of the largest Food Banks in Gauteng, Buyisa Ubuntu Food Bank established in partnership with the Department of Social Development.
2010

Digital Food Vouchers
In response to widespread hunger caused by the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns, Siyabonga Africa became one of the first non-profits in South Africa to issue SMS Food Vouchers, enabling us to get food to people quickly and safely, wherever they are.
2020

National
Siyabonga Africa's footprint is now national, with projects implemented in every province
