Students who display participation and enthusiasm are added onto a job-seekers database and linked to employment opportunities.

WELDING TRAINING COURSE

NQF

Siyabonga Africa offers a 20-day accredited course, covering:

• Preparation for gas welding, brazing or cutting;
• Basic gas welding techniques;
• Describe and demonstrate the brazing process;
• Basic gas cutting process.

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT (ECD) TRAINING COURSE

NQF Level 4

Good quality pre-school facilities in the townships and suburbs are in high demand. Siyabonga Africa offers an accredited, NQF level 4 course whereby successful students receive a recognised qualification.

This is a 12 month course, during which students will gain the neceessary knowledge, practical skills and work experience. Course cost includes meals.

Knowledge Module

• Theory & perspectives of child development;
• Planning and programmedevelopment in early childhood settings;
• Facilitation and meadiation of active learning;
• Promotion of health, safery and well-being of children;
• Administration of early childhood development services and programmes;

Practical Skill Modules

• Plan and prepare inclusive educational activities and routine using an approved programme;
• Facilitate and mediate active learning in an integrated and holistic learning programme;
• Observe, assess, record and report each childs's progress according to age and stage;
• Support and promote the health, nutrition, safety, protection and well being of children;
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with parents and other service providers;
• Prepare and maintain administive systems;

Work Experience Modules

• Learning programme and routines planning and preparation process;
• Processes of facilitating and mediating the learning programme in a variety of contects;
• Process of observation, assessment, recording and reporting on childrens learning and development;
• Processes and procedures of promoting the health, nutrition, safety, protection and well-being of children in an early childhood;

BAKING AND CONFECTIONARY COURSE

Siyabonga Africa has been successfully training people in baking since 2006. This 10-day course includes practical training in baking a variety of products, as well as hygiene, food safety and costing of products for sale.

You will learn:

• Plain biscuits, oat and ginger biscuits;
• Scones & red cakes;

• Mosbolletjies & Rolls;
• Chelsea Buns;
• Theory, costing;
• Cleaning bakery & equipment;

Successful trainees receive a Certificate of competency. Meals are included in the cost of the course.

COMPUTER LITERACY TRAINING

ICDL Accredited

Siyabonga Africa is a registered and accredited ICDL Centre. The courses on offer are recognised in 152 countries around the world. We have a fully equipped computer literacy classroom, in house facilitator and all the necessary technical support to ensure quality training takes place.

The primary objective of the training is to provide unemployed people from disadvantaged communities the basic skills required for employment in most places of work.

We currently have two 10-day courses available:

• Word or Excel specific: R3 500 (includiing meals)
• Basic computer literacy: R1 800 (including meals)

Siyabonga Africa conducts training in-house at the Siyabonga Africa premises and onsite at community network facilities.

FASHION DESIGN TRAINING

NQF1 - includes business training

Although many industries in South Africa have downscaled owing to the current economic climate, the fashion industry maintains the potential for growth and investment, nationally and internationally.

Siyabonga Africa launched its School of Fashion in 2021, to give young South Africans (mainly women from disadvantaged backgrounds) an opportunity and platform to access training and business support that will catapult them into the world of fashion, clothing manufacturing and business, thus stimulating the local economy and contributing towards job creation.

This course provides 6-8 weeks training and includes 12 sessions on business training. Students learn:

• How to use a domestic sewing machine, overlocker and pressing;
• Patterns for a fuller figure using half scale cutting and stitching;
• How to analyze designs and pay attention to detail in accordance with custoomer specifications;
• Fusing types of fabrics, pockets, bodice and skirts;
• Garment making;
• Finish and store pressed items;
• Planning and managing a business;
• Personal & business finances;
• How to write a business plan;
• Identify, analyse and select business opportunities;

HOME HOME FOOD GARDENING

Food security for the poor

This course includes 5 days' training, 1 day volunteering in our food garden, and a starter seedbox to enable successful trainiees to being growing their own vegetables at home to feed the family. Training takes place in the food garden at Siyabonga Africa and meals are included in the cost of training.

The course includes:

• Introduction to gardening
• Soil preparation/setting up a garden
• Garden care and maintenance
• Garden products and how to use them
