Benoni Outreach

On Tuesday, 17 July 2018, Siyabonga Africa went out to Benoni Plaza as part of Mandela Week. This area has been abandoned, neglected and vandalised. There are many homeless young people sleeping in the old fountain and under benches, all of whom are victims of drug addiction and are trapped in unspeakable circumstances.

The Siyabonga Africa crew started by cleaning the area and talking with the youth. Over 70 people were served, receiving much needed items such as blankets, beanies, gloves, boots and a warm plate of food.

Ten of the youth asked for help to escape from a life of drugs and abuse. They will be going to a rehabilitation facility to take their first steps! What an amazing success!

The outreach has generated much interest and we are looking forward to various stakeholders bringing much needed help, support and change to these young people.

Thank you once again to the National Lottery, Pep Stores,Witpoort Treatment Centre, Ikageng Women's Club, The Greater Benoni Child Welfare, Benoni City Times – as well as all our AMAZING volunteers and the Siyabonga Africa team. And of course, all our faithful and supportive partners and friends. You are deeply appreciated!
